Verona midfielder Luca Marrone says he ‘tried to steal Del Piero and Pirlo’s free kick secrets’ while at Juventus.
The 25-year-old signed for Hellas in January and made an instant impression by assisting all three of his side’s goals against Inter from dead ball situations.
He revealed today that he attempted to hone his craft while with the Bianconeri by observing some of the world’s best in action.
“I learned so much at Juve,” he said to Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I tried to steal the secrets of Del Piero and Pirlo and then I kept on practicing. Because of this Del Neri decided to let me take the free kicks.
“Now I’d also like to score goals from set pieces.
“The jump in quality? Injuries slowed down my development but now I want to run fast. I want to experience four months of fire.
“What didn’t work at Carpi? They made different assessments. I’m doing well here and will do everything to keep the team up.
“Del Neri has trusted me with the midfield, I feel the responsibility and want to do well.”
