Each team puts a player and the Coach up to be interviewed ahead of the match, with both sitting in for the conference.

However, Ronaldo appeared to take exception to the line of questioning, and left the room, leaving Coach Zinedine Zidane to face the media for the rest of the conference.

“Are we favourites?” Ronaldo considered ahead of tomorrow’s game at Stadio Olimpico.

“We’re always favourites for every competition, we’ve won more trophies than anyone.

“We’re still alive in the League too. It’s a bit of a complicated situation because we’re a few points behind, but we’ll see at the end.

“In the Champions League, the League and the cup the aim is always the same, to try to have fun and give my best.

“The Champions League is a great competition. Tomorrow will be a good game, against a good team who are in front of their own fans.

“We’ll try to win.”

It’s been suggested that Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema don’t get on off the pitch, in contrast to Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar. Is that a problem?

“That’s what you say. If that’s what you read or write… When I was at Manchester United with [Paul] Scholes, [Ryan] Giggs and [Rio] Ferdinand we only said ‘good morning’ and ‘good night’ and we were formidable on the pitch.

"We don't give each other kisses and hugs. I don't have to go to dinner with Bale or Benzema or invite them to my house. What's important is our understanding on the pitch.

"Little meals or kisses and hugs don't mean anything.

“Do I feel appreciated? Yes, of course, absolutely. How could it not be so? I always play, I’ve scored a few goals and I’m at the best club in the world.

“Why have I struggled to score away from home? Can you name one player who has scored more away from home than me since I’ve been in Spain?

“No, you can’t, there aren’t any. Bye everyone.”
