The Bianconeri had won every single Serie A game since October 28 – the same day Donadoni was appointed on the Rossoblu bench.

If the campaign had started on that day, Juve would still be top, but Bologna in fourth place.

“The lads did really well, even if at times we lacked a bit of confidence and character to do even better,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia.

“We have to focus on getting stronger. There are some big margins of improvement at individual and collective levels.

“All the lads I train have a great mentality and that is a big advantage for a Coach.”

Donadoni made some attacking substitutions in the second half, proving his ambition.

“I wanted the players to realise we were not suffering or under a lot of pressure because we were organised. I really like this mentality. I think we could’ve done more, as we often have problems in the final third.”

Since taking over from Delio Rossi, Bologna have beaten Napoli and Milan, holding Juventus, Roma, Fiorentina and Lazio to draws.

“Who are the Scudetto favourites? Both Napoli and Juve have what it takes to go all the way.”

Donadoni was asked if he sees himself on the Milan bench in future, returning to the club where he spent most of his playing career.

“Of course I am fond of Milan, but right now my reality is at Bologna.”
