Roma in chaos after Totti exclusion

Coach Luciano Spalletti is expected to make a statement after Francesco Totti's exclusion as the environment plunges into chaos.

The 56-year-old tactician did not call up the captain for today's game against Palermo, in response to an interview in which the Pupone asked for more playing time.

The news have plunged the Roma environment in disarray. The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Totti's teammates could not believe what had happened, while the internet was bursting with comments by experts and supporters.

“How can one expect to keep playing football at the age of 40?” commented Sport Mediaset pundit Paolo Bargiggia on Twitter. “What kind of an inflated consideration of himself does Totti have?”

Fans everywhere have been tweeting and leaving comments. While a proper survey of the opinions among romanisti is still not available, superficially it would appear that the fans are mostly siding with Spalletti.

To calm things down and explain the club's position, before and after the game against Palermo there will be some statements by the club.

According to, Spalletti and director Mauro Baldissoni are expected to discuss the situation, and it is possible that President James Pallotta may release a statement of his own later in the day.
