“I don't want any excuses, if we play then it doesn't matter whether there's heavy or light rain. It makes no difference if we have to play the game later, midweek,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“I'm making up my mind as to what approach we want to have in this game, whether we should be forceful from the beginning or hold back.

“We have changed a few things, but the team agreed with the decision to start the training retreat early. This is a game we need to win for the table, for ourselves, for our confidence, the fans and the President.

“It is a match where we cannot get the approach wrong. We must be sharp for the entire 95 minutes and not get frenetic, otherwise we won’t take our chances, which is what happened against Atalanta and Torino.

“When I arrived the team had certain characteristics that then changed with the transfer market. We’ve been trying to find consistency since the January transfer window closed. The fact remains we have to play well in order to get points.

“We also need to be smarter, because we tend to get hit on the counter-attack.

“[Matias] Silvestre is back in the squad, we'll see. [Lorenzo] De Silvestri has been available for some time now.

“[Modibo] Diakite spent three days training with the team, but for the other recovery times you have to ask [doctor Amedeo] Baldari.”

Montella was asked whether he had received any offers from abroad and if he’d be interested in such an experience.

“There's been no contact of any kind from abroad. Now I'm only focused on tomorrow's game. But I'd certainly like to train outside of Italy.”
