The Rossoneri have finally found their identity and are fast climbing in the Serie A standings, with the coveted third place only six points away from them.

“I like challenges and I never stopped believing in myself,” the 47-year-old told La Domenica Sportiva. “There have been moments of difficulty, but I've always been calm.

“My background with Inter was never a problem. I never played for Milan, but I know I can give my players a sense of the respect that opponents felt when they faced the Rossoneri.

“After the game against Napoli we changed formations in order to be more solid in defence. I've never been obsessed about a formation, players should be allowed to play wherever they give their best.

“When [Jeremy] Menez returns, maybe we can try the 4-2-3-1 again.

“On the subject of being sacked, I'll cross my bridges when I get to them.”

Mihajlovic then touched on the delicate subject of Balotelli.

“I've worked a lot on the psychological profile of my players, because I was certain that we deserved many more points than we were getting.

“I didn't expect so many problems in the first half of the season, but I never lost faith in my team and now we're stronger.

“I was the one who wanted Balotelli at Milan and I'm glad he's available.

“Ever since his return, he did nothing wrong in terms of behaviour. He only had some physical problems that held him back.”

Finally, the Serbian Coach described his relationship with President Berlusconi.

“We have a good relationship and I admire him very much. Sometimes we disagree, but Berlusconi was always respectful of my work.

“We both want to bring Milan back where they belong. I'll never stop thanking him, because he chose me to lead the Rossoneri.

“The other day we were sharing a meal and I told him I never expected to be discussing football with someone so important. I'm very proud of this.”
