Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio admits he was even more motivated than usual after his error against Juventus on Sunday.

The Nerazzurri were beaten 2-0 in a Serie A encounter on Sunday, but defeated the Bianconeri 3-0 in this evening’s Coppa Italia semi-final.

That cancelled out the first leg defeat from January, but Juve qualified with a 3-2 victory on penalties.

That cancelled out the first leg defeat from January, but Juve qualified with a 3-2 victory on penalties.

“There was a bitter taste in the mouth, because beating Juventus 3-0 with this kind of performance and still going out is going to hurt,” D’Ambrosio told Rai Sport.

“We have to resume from this performance, because especially after a 2-0 in Serie A at the weekend, we showed what we can do. We know that if we believe, we can do it.

“I always try to be concentrated at 100 per cent, but there’s no denying it’s a special game against Juventus. My involuntary assist helped Juve on Sunday and nobody blamed me, but I was upset and I wanted to make amends.

“The Coach fielded me in a role that wasn’t my own, so I am happy and satisfied to have repaid him for that show of faith.

“We stepped on to the pitch with the belief we could win the game. We didn’t just lay siege, as we knew that would be dangerous with Alvaro Morata and Simone Zaza on the counter.

“When we got the second goal, we realised it really was possible. We had the chances to win definitively, but unfortunately once you get to penalties it’s a lottery.”
