Roma President James Pallotta said they are “a completely different team mentally” under Luciano Spalletti and can upset Real Madrid.

The Giallorossi registered a seventh consecutive Serie A victory, crushing Fiorentina 4-1 in a head-to-head for third place.

“It’s a completely different team mentally. The movement, all the players moving together, they could’ve got frustrated by that goal for 3-1, but they came back and scored another goal,” Pallotta told Mediaset Premium.

“Luciano is doing an unbelievable job and his assistant coaches deserve credit too, as every single day they are working with the players on a one-to-one basis.

“The last few weeks at Trigoria has been a completely different situation.”

It was a damning indictment of the Rudi Garcia era, which was terminated in January.

Stephan El Shaarawy can’t seem to stop scoring since he arrived from Milan via Monaco.

“I love his haircut! The reason why they are playing so well and scoring so many goals is the rest of the team is moving. They couldn’t do what they’re doing if the others didn’t do what they did.

“I’m glad they are here and finishing things off, but you have to look at (Alessandro) Florenzi’s movement, (Diego) Perotti, (Miralem) Pjanic, (Antonio) Rudiger and they are all playing as a team.

“I loved (Radja) Nainggolan’s yellow card at the end, that was a piece of work!”

Roma now visit Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday, having lost the first leg 2-0 at home.

“I think the Madrid game we played as well as we’ve played all year long. If you look at the replays, Ronaldo was probably offside and a couple of calls could’ve gone our way.

“It came out 2-0, but I was unbelievably proud of the way the guys played and there’s no reason why they couldn’t have won that game.

“They’ll come out and try to put on a show again in Madrid. We’ll try to put goals on the board and there’s no reason why we can’t do well there too.”
