“We must never stop fighting, of believing in our quality and our chances of winning many more games,” said the Coach in a Press conference.

Their hopes of European qualification seem to rest solely on winning the Europa League this term, as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Sassuolo on Monday.

“From here to the end of the season I want the maximum. I want to see the right spirit, a team that plays every game to win. I am motivating my players and their attitude will be very important.

“I see the right desire to make this campaign positive. I can see it from the way they move on the field and their attitude in the locker room.”

Speaking of attitude, Ravel Morrison could finally be included after months in the shadows.

“He has a better chance than a few months ago, his attitude and mentality have changed, but there are many just like him,” added Pioli.

“I will use my best available team every time, I don’t understand these questions about whether I’ll rest stars and try out younger players. Our objective is to improve our status in the Serie A table and go forward in Europe.

“The most motivated players will start, so that depends on them. I make my choices based on what I see during the week in training.

“The most important element is psychological. We’d be making a big mistake if we thought only of Thursday’s Europa League game in Prague.”

Pioli was asked whether he was more disappointed in Lazio or vice versa?

“I think we’re making judgments too early here and talking about the future too soon. We still have objectives that can be achieved. At the end of the season we’ll all make our evaluations.

“At this moment I am not thinking about next season or what I’ll say to the President. I ask the maximum to save the current campaign, to think of the present and not the future.

“We still have the opportunity to salvage this season.”

Mauricio is suspended in defence, joining the injured Dusan Basta, Santiago Gentiletti, Stefan Radu and Stefan de Vrij.
