Eusebio Di Francesco hailed a “great performance” from ambitious Sassuolo to beat Milan and close on sixth place.

The Rossoneri have lost all three visits to the Mapei Stadium, today the result was 2-0 with Alfred Duncan and Nicola Sansone on target.

“Clearly playing Milan at home brings us good luck,” smiled the Coach on Mediaset Premium.

“Today we put in a great performance. We didn’t get off to the best start, but improved as the game went on and in the second half didn’t allow them a single shot on target.

“My team is accustomed to running forward and attacking, so even when we went down to 10 men, we still spent much of it in their half.

“The lads played above and beyond expectations in terms of attitude too. The quality of this side is that everyone trains hard.”

Di Francesco has been tipped as a potential successor to Sinisa Mihajlovic at Milan.

“I have ambition and I am ready for anything. I do this work with passion and am happy to work in a club that has great prospects to grow even more.

“My thoughts are only for Sassuolo.”
