“This is the first time I’ve ever been in here (at the Bernabeu), so it’s special just seeing the size and the scope of it.

“I’ll feel a lot better if we go home with a 3-0 or 4-1 result, but in the meanwhile I’m taking it all in,” Pallotta told Mediaset Premium.

“I would like 3-0. The guys are definitely ready, we’ve got a great line-up and we are going to attack them.”

Pallotta was asked whether there was a cash bonus planned to help motivate the players.

“There is something called pride. These guys don’t need motivation like that. No matter what people think outside, these guys want to go out there and beat this team. It won’t matter if they get told here, have some more money.

“I saw a lot of the fans in the streets, I can’t believe how many I saw in the museum today. We’ve looked at the film, with a couple of calls it could easily have been 1-1. We know we can play Real Madrid and we’ll do it again tonight.”

Francesco Totti could be given his final Champions League appearance this evening. Will he get a standing ovation the way Alessandro Del Piero did?

“I hope wherever Francesco goes he gets a standing ovation and is recognised for his career whenever he walks into a stadium.
