The situation erupted this afternoon when Coach Iachini had a fiery meeting with President Maurizio Zamparini and resigned.
Zamparini said he was trying to “convince Iachini to stay,” only to then call him “an idiot” and say “he’s gone mad” in a radio interview.
It was confirmed he would call Ballardini to see if he’ll return to Sicily, having been sacked on January 11 complete with legal action after a player coup led by captain Stefano Sorrentino.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Ballardini is refusing to come back on to the Stadio Barbera bench.
The search is therefore on for yet another new Coach in this utterly chaotic campaign, but in the meantime Zamparini has rejected Iachini’s resignation.
It remains to be seen who will be in charge of training tomorrow, let alone on the bench this weekend against Napoli.
