Gian Piero Gasperini is pleased with Genoa's 3-2 comeback against Torino: 'But the team had already been doing well'.

The Rossoblu picked up an epic victory, reversing the scoreline after a brace by Ciro Immobile had almost buried them.

“This was the type of game that stays with you,” he told Sky Sports. “It started off poorly, we went down by two goals against a strong team.

“Today we showed a splendid reaction. We played with intensity and we turned around the game.

“The penalty? In the first half we were winning 2-1 and probably there was this situation that would have given us a considerable advantage. But the game will be remembered because we really suffered to get the result and willed it into happening.

“The race against relegation isn't over because there are many days still to be played. But we chased the ghosts away.

“A team that plays with this level of conviction is unlikely to drop points. This game must push us forward in the coming matches.

“The team had a horrible moment in December with situations that are unlikely to repeat themselves. In the last 11 games we made 18 points, we've been doing well for much longer than three Sundays.

“We were fine earlier, too, in spite of a few defeats against Juventus and Milan. The month of December aside, the team always did well. We had no problems with the fans.

“We're very happy about today and about the championship we're playing. But looking at the city of Udine, I'd like to ask something.

“In rugby we pick up no results, but 70,000 people come to the stadium under the assumption that we're likely to lose and there's a fantastic atmosphere. How do we get that into football?”
