The first leg ended 1-1 in Prague and the decider is played tomorrow evening at the Stadio Olimpico.

“There are injuries, but we cannot cry over spilt milk. I have a strong squad and can put out a competitive line-up,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Stefano Mauri and Miroslav Klose bring experience, but are also important for the way they experience and interpret games. They did well on Sunday and I’ll wait until tomorrow to decide if they start. They could well be suited to this match.

“Klose knows how to read the game, that is beyond doubt. Scoring a brace at the weekend will help him feel fresher.”

Lazio are out of the Coppa Italia and stranded mid-table in Serie A, so what would salvage their season?

“Going as far as possible, trying to win the Europa League and recover lost ground in Serie A. A victory tomorrow would certainly give us a boost of enthusiasm and hunger to end the campaign on a high.

“The first leg result cannot make us change our attitude. We must be attacking and positive from the start, playing with sharpness and respect for our opponents, but also awareness of our own capabilities.

“We have to play a precise game on a technical level, so avoiding poor or unnecessarily inaccurate passes. Play simple and linear football, remaining solid.

“I don’t think we’ll use a three-man defence, though it could depend on Abdoulay Konko’s conditions. In any case, football is about movement rather than starting positions and we have to move well.

“Our opponents are dangerous and we must be sharp to strike them when we get the chance.”

Lazio fans have boycotted most of their home games this season due to the barriers in the Stadio Olimpico splitting up the Curva Nord. Does Pioli have a message for them?

“The more we are, the better, and every fan who comes represents an extra weapon to get through this round. The fans must support us, let go the rest that has nothing to do with this sport.

“This game is decisive for Lazio’s season and we are in good shape psychologically.”
