Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti insists Sparta Prague “ought to be worried” about their Europa League clash.

The first leg ended 1-1 and the Round of 16 will be decided tomorrow evening at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti insists Sparta Prague “ought to be worried” about their Europa League clash.

The first leg ended 1-1 and the Round of 16 will be decided tomorrow evening at the Stadio Olimpico.

“It can give a different sense to our season, as we struggled at first by losing the Champions League preliminary round and the Italian Super Cup in August,” said Marchetti in a Press conference.

“Every season has its story. We were not phenomenons last term and we’re not garbage now. Analysis requires a little more balance, especially when there are two games per week to prepare for.

“This is not the time to seek scapegoats. We must concentrate and get as many points as possible, because when we play as a team from the first to the 95th minute, we are hard to beat.

“It will be important to focus in defence and hurt them when we have the chance. The first leg showed us Sparta are certainly not invincible. It will all be on our shoulders and we must work as a team.

“We do keep conceding early goals, so if we get the wrong approach again tomorrow it’ll mean we haven’t learned anything.

“Sparta are a side to be feared, but we proved ourselves superior in technical terms, so they ought to be worried at facing us as long as we avoid the banal errors of the first leg.”

Marchetti recently extended his contract with Lazio and described the experience as “like giving birth.”
