Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno called Juventus striker Alvaro Morata after Wednesday’s Champions League game.

The Spanish international joined the Bianconeri from Madrid in the summer of 2014, but Los Merengues retain a buyback clause valid for this summer and next.

It appears they may be making the first steps in convincing Morata to return to Bernabeu, as AS reports that Butragueno called the player to congratulate him on his performance in the Champions League Last 16 match.

It appears they may be making the first steps in convincing Morata to return to Bernabeu, as AS reports that Butragueno called the player to congratulate him on his performance in the Champions League Last 16 match.

It’s not clear if the club wish to bring Morata back to play, or if they’d prefer to sell him on for a quick profit, with English side Arsenal reportedly interested.

However, AS notes that Morata would have to agree to return to Madrid, and he signed a new and improved contract with the Bianconeri earlier this season.

he 23-year-old could therefore decide to respect his contract and stay in Turin, as Madrid cannot force him to return.
