“I hope the lads repeat the performance they showed at the Olimpico earlier this season. I want a great performance tomorrow with the right attitude,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“The lads might not be able to guarantee a victory, but they can guarantee me the right approach from start to finish.”

Lazio crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday with a shock 3-0 home defeat to Sparta Prague, so will they be riled up or ready to crumble?

“Even if they went out, they will come here to win. In recent years Lazio have done well, they have quality players, but I think more than Lazio it will depend on us.

“We just have to focus on ourselves and do what we prepared in training. Sixth place is not satisfying to us and we want to climb up the standings. We know we have the quality to do it and there is time to make this season positive.

“We are six points off Fiorentina and Inter with nine rounds left. I have both won and lost a Scudetto even when there was a 10-point gap.

“It is just not possible that there have been zero shots on target from the strikers in our last two games. These players have 10 more matches left to honour the shirt. We’ve had injuries, but I expect a lot more from them.

“Did Milan lose their bet on Mario Balotelli? That depends on him. He too has 10 games to honour the shirt. The example for my forwards was set by Alvaro Morata against Bayern Munich. That run from his own half to create the goal is how strikers make a team step up in quality.

“Christian Abbiati and Ignazio Abate did very well to criticise their teammates, as at times it is helpful to say these things outside the locker room too. They’ve been here a long time and know how things work.

“The problem is not playing for Milan, but doing your job well. Only in Italy do we have to talk about attitude. It ought to be a given that players go on the field and give their all.

“If you have the wrong attitude then not only can you not play for Milan, but not in any team.”

The Coach also confirmed Gianluigi Donnarumma will play if he has recovered from a knock to the head, but Abbiati is second choice, bumping Diego Lopez down to third.

There are reports Mihajlovic is the favourite to take over at Lazio next term, as he won the Scudetto there in his playing career.

“These are just rumours put about by you journalists and they don’t trouble me. I always give my best and I’m happy here. I have another year on my contract with Milan.”
