“We went down by a goal against a very strong team,” Sarri told the Press after the game. “We got nervous, but the team's reaction was excellent.

“It's beautiful to win for an audience like this and they deserve it. We're playing an extraordinary championship.

“The team defends well, the numbers prove that. We don't concede very much. Of course, when you're trailing you tend to leave more openings.

“We won against a team that was in a great condition, thanks to our determination to win.

“It's good that we came back, but it's time for us to start taking the advantage when we play at home. This isn't the first time we have to trail behind another team.

“I don't know if Juventus can be reached. We're going to keep reasoning one game at a time, trying to propose our football. I haven't seen their derby [against Torino] though.

“The team at the top made 58 points out of 60 available. The fact that we're three points behind them is what makes our campaign extraordinary. In other circumstances, we'd be first.

“It was a wonderful match, thanks not least to Genoa and their constructive, creative approach to the game. If everyone in Italy played like they do, we'd have some beautiful games and less controversy.”
