“In the first half we played with more conviction, whereas fatigue and fear set in after the break,” De Canio told Rai Sport and Udinese TV.

“We wasted some good opportunities and that gave Sassuolo the confidence to fight back. We even risked losing it at the end.

“The break for international duty comes at the right time and we’ll try to use it in the best way. Meanwhile, positive results are the best medicine for us to heal.

“It’s a pity not to have won after such a strong performance, but I am satisfied with my lads. This is the path we need to follow to stay in Serie A.”
