Roma are planning to loan Leandro Castan to Corinthians for free, with the player's consent.

The central defender returned to the pitch this season after surgery and a long recovery time from a brain disease, but his athletic form is still far from ideal.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, while Castan was initially determined to stay at Roma, he has now changed his mind.

Both the player and the club now believe that the best option is to loan him out and let him regain his form abroad.

His former Brazilian club Corinthians are reportedly willing to take him, especially as the Giallorossi would impose no fee for the loan.

The move would also allow Roma to save themselves the €4m yearly they pay Castan for his salary.
