Paolo List, fan favourite in Zdenek Zeman’s Foggia side, has died at the age of 52 due to ALS complications.
The right-back featured heavily in the legendary squad that earned promotion to Serie A under the tutelage of Zeman from 1988 to 1991.
The official Foggia website confirmed his passing, as he had been suffering from ALS – Amyotrophobic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gherig’s Disease.
It is a type of muscular dystrophy that particularly strikes former sportsmen and among the Serie A players to have lost their lives to this condition are ex-Genoa captain Stefano Borgonovo.
