“We were a little too timid against a great side, especially in the first half. We played with more pride after the break and tried to do what the Coach asked, but that third goal was a heavy blow,” the Sassuolo defender told Rai Sport.

“This should teach us what we’re going into at Euro 2016 and we need to raise our game. Now we can learn from this experience and work on our mistakes so we don’t repeat them.

“The Coach was a little upset and angry, as we all were, but we have to learn from this match so we don’t make the same mistakes again.

“I will give my best and try to be part of the final 23 for Euro 2016, then the Coach will decide.”
