Lorenzo Insigne’s agent says a Napoli renewal will only be discussed at “the end of the season”.
The 24-year-old has been a key man for the Vesuviani this season, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists to help his team to within three points of the Serie A summit.
As a Neapolitan native, the Italian international grew up supporting the club, but one of his representatives says there’s no rush to discuss a new contract.
“That matter has been postponed until the end of the season, so there’s nothing new,” Fabio Andreotti, one of Insigne’s representatives said on Radio Crc.
“Lorenzo’s ambition is to win the Scudetto with Napoli, Lorenzo’s story is amazing and if he could top this dream off with the tricolore it would be fantastic.
“In the second phase of the League season he can give the best of himself, on a physical level too. He knows Napoli come first, and everything else is just a consequence.”
Insigne started for Italy in last night’s 4-1 defeat to Germany, has that harmed his chances of going to Euro 2016?
“I hope that Insigne is part of Italy’s 23 for the European Championship, I hope what he’s doing with Napoli and the national team will convince [CT Antonio] Conte to call him.
“Yesterday Italy played against a top team in Germany, who have amazing potential due to the reforms they’ve adopted and the importance they gave to their youth system.
“Italy conceded two goals with individual errors yesterday, and if those hadn’t happened then losing 2-1 to a top team like Germany is just one of those things.”
