Pippo Inzaghi emerges as the favourite if Eusebio Di Francesco joins Milan, as Sassuolo warn “we’re a big club too.”
The reports continue to pile up that Di Francesco has been targeted as the number one choice to take over from Sinisa Mihajlovic next season.
Sky Sport Italia claim the Neroverdi told EDF he must make a decision by April 20 so they can plan ahead.
The problem with that deadline is that Milan play the Coppa Italia Final on May 21 and Miha could yet keep his job with a victory over Juventus.
“Regardless of the contract, we will soon meet with our Coach to plan out the future,” Sassuolo director of sport Giovanni Carnevali told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Di Francesco has had a great journey with us and would be ready for Milan or any other big club, but Sassuolo are a big club too.”
If the Neroverdi do have to rebuild without Di Francesco, the hot favourite according to calcionews24 is Inzaghi.
This certainly is not the first time Inzaghi has been linked with the job, as patron Giorgio Squinzi – a self-confessed Milan supporter – already tried to sign SuperPippo when he was a Rossoneri youth team Coach.
He struggled with a short spell on the main San Siro bench and is waiting for other opportunities.
