Javier Zanetti and Francesco Toldo played in Alvaro Recoba’s farewell match last night.

The Uruguayan has hung up his boots, with the former Inter man’s final match being a tribute game in Montevideo last night.

Recoba was a left-footed playmaker, well-known for his prowess from free-kicks, and was briefly the highest-paid player in the world.

After 175 appearances for the Beneamata and 54 goals, Recoba had a brief spell at Torino before returning to his native Uruguay with Danubio and then Nacional.

He won two Scudetti with Inter [the first as part of the Calciopoli scandal], as well as two Coppa Italia and the UEFA Cup.

A number of Recoba’s former Nerazzurri teammates took part, with Toldo and Zanetti joined by Ivan Zamorano.

A number of other famous faces joined the festivities, including Andres D'Alessandro, Ivan Alonso, Tabaré Viudez, Carlos Valderrama, Marcelo Gallardo and Juan Roman Riquelme.

The fans at Parque Central also honoured the 40-year-old, unveiling a huge banner saying “thank you Chino”. Watch the video below.
