“It is not going to be an easy game for us. There are eight rounds to go and nobody must give up now, as we have to prove to everybody that we are worthy of Milan,” said the Coach in a Press conference.

“Atalanta had their best game of the season against us at San Siro, so we hope to have our best performance on their home turf.

“In Italy there are no easy games, including against sides battling to avoid relegation. Motivation will count for a lot and that is why we must give our all so we can reach the Coppa Italia Final in good shape.

“We cannot think of doing well in that game if we don’t impress in the remainder of the Serie A season.”

President Silvio Berlusconi warned Mihajlovic will only keep his job if he wins the Coppa Italia Final with Juventus, but this week Sassuolo boss Eusebio Di Francesco ruled himself out of the running because of the “confusion” at Milan.

“There is no confusion at Milan,” insisted Miha. “In clubs like this there is always going to be pressure and people expect a lot more of you. I don’t know what Di Francesco meant.

“I am relaxed, I have another year left on my contract and as long as I am the Coach of Milan I’ll continue trying to get the best out of myself and my players.

“Coaches depend on results, at the end of the day the work done will be evaluated. The important thing is to have a clear conscience. I do not get to decide.

“We certainly could’ve done better, but I would’ve said that even if we were top of the table, because there is always room for improvement.

“In this season there have been some improvements compared to previous years. It takes time, although I realise in Italian football that is a rarity.

“The important thing is that players do not take the wrong attitude.”

With that in mind, Mihajlovic was asked about his reported training ground row with striker Menez.

“I spoke to Jeremy and I think he understood me well. I wanted him to understand me and I believe he has understood me.”

Mario Balotelli is another player who hasn’t always shown the right attitude either.

“It depends on them and not on me. Regardless of how often they play, they have to give their all. As long as they don’t do that, they won’t play from the start.”
