“I hope to open a new era for the club under Paulo Sousa’s guidance,” ADV told reporters.

“Montella said stupid things that aren’t true and he hurt me when he said that we didn’t keep our promises.

“I would’ve liked to embrace him tomorrow, but at this point I think unfortunately that will not be possible.

“Sousa has brought back enthusiasm around this squad and we are both convinced it’ll be a great new era for Fiorentina.

“We’ll fight to the last second for third place and have not given up on our Champions League dream. We’ve been up there for years and all of Italy envies our team.”

Della Valle also replied to Fiorentina ultras who urged him to sell the club or invest more heavily.

“That was hurtful, but it’s all in the past and we want to think positive. A banner in the wrong moment won’t make me change my perception of how much I love the city.”
