Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain risks a three-match ban for his reaction to being sent off against Udinese, say reports.

The Argentine striker was shown a second yellow card with 15 minutes remaining of the Partenopei’s shock defeat on Sunday, leading to a livid reaction that saw teammates drag him off the pitch.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports today that the report of match referee Massimiliano Irrati will determine the length of Higuain’s ban, which could be longer than the usual one-match suspension.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports today that the report of match referee Massimiliano Irrati will determine the length of Higuain’s ban, which could be longer than the usual one-match suspension.

The newspaper writes that if Irrati says Higuain’s behaviour was disrespectful then the striker could be made to sit out of the next three matches.

However, if the ref complains that he was pushed and that the Argentina international’s conduct was violent, he could face an even longer suspension.
