The forward saw the suspension, in reality one game automatically for the dismissal against Udinese and three for insulting the referee, cut to three matches on appeal today.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Higuain’s personal testimony to the disciplinary commission focused on his history.

“I always respected the rules in my life,” Pipita is quoted as saying.

“I find the four-match ban unjust and excessive, as I didn’t want to insult anyone. Before Udinese-Napoli I played 430 games as a professional footballer and was sent off for a second bookable offence only once, when I was at Real Madrid.”

Before the Udinese match, Higuain hadn’t received a single yellow card this season.

The partial appeal means he will be available for the big Serie A clash with Roma on April 25.
