Giuseppe Rossi explains why he left Fiorentina for Levante and tells Antonio Conte he’s “ready if needed” for Italy at Euro 2016.

The Fiorentina striker finally put his injury problems behind him, but had to go on loan to Spain for regular playing time.

“Physically I am in good shape, I’m finding consistency and slowly the goals and victories are also arriving for Levante to secure safety,” Pepito told Radio Deejay in Italy.

Considering his sparkling form, including four goals and two assists in 11 Liga appearances for Levante, could he be a late addition to the Italy squad for Euro 2016?

“I do feel good and am getting back to a high level, so if the call were to come, I’d be ready if needed. I don’t need to send messages to Conte, as what really counts is what I do on the pitch.

“I left Fiorentina because there wasn’t enough room for me. It was disappointing, but I had to think of myself and to find an environment that had faith in me.

“The muscular problems after such a long lay-off were only normal and you have to work twice as hard. The first time I wanted to recover quickly for Euro 2012, so I pushed harder than I should’ve done and hurt myself again. I learned from that.

“Now I work calmly, doing what I need to do. My knee is in perfect condition, I feel really good and don’t even think about the injuries anymore.

“I don’t want to think about bad luck either, because last year I was in bed with my leg raised, so I am happy to be where I am now.

“I am happy on the pitch and hope to rediscover myself psychologically too.”

There have been reports Rossi could reunite with Claudio Ranieri at Leicester City next season after their brief time together at Parma.

“We had a very happy four months together.”
