Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, so is out of Euro 2016.
He was stretchered off during today’s 4-0 win over Palermo in Turin, having fallen awkwardly during a challenge.
Tests confirmed the worst fears, that he has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
Juve released a statement confirming Marchisio will undergo surgery over the next few days.
It’s not clear yet how long he will be out for, but this type of injury usually requires four to six months.
That means Marchisio is certainly out for the rest of the season and will miss Italy’s Euro 2016 campaign.
