“It will be a tricky game,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We need points, as do Sassuolo. The Neroverdi are a very logical side who have a precise plan and do what Eusebio Di Francesco tells them to. They play the same way against any opponent and work so well in the transitions.

“Nonetheless, we must step on to the field with the same attitude and determination as we showed on Sunday against Milan.

“Despite the 1-0 result, I thought Samp put in one of our best performances of the season. The individuals worked for the team.

“Our intention is to base the strategy around our characteristics, but also those of the opposition. I saw a side that used up a lot of energy on Sunday, so I could rotate.

“We need to play with a lot of intelligence and not waste time thinking about who is behind us in the table. We cannot try to achieve safety by hoping everyone else loses. We have to be positive and earn our status.”

Antonio Cassano is still out of action along with Angelo Palombo, David Ivan, Jacopo Sala and Carlos Carbonero.

Sampdoria squad for Sassuolo: Brignoli, Puggioni, Viviano; Cassani, De Silvestri, Diakité, Dodô, Moisander, Pereira, Ranocchia, Silvestre, Skriniar; Alvarez, Barreto, Christodoulopoulos, Correa, Fernando, Krsticic, Soriano; Muriel, Rodriguez, Quagliarella
