Teenage Roma striker Umar Sadiq blotted his career profile with a red card in the Primavera Derby with Lazio and had to be dragged off the pitch.

The recently turned 19 and attracted interest from the likes of Arsenal after scoring 21 goals in 24 competitive matches this season, including two in Serie A for the senior team.

However, just 25 minutes into Friday’s Primavera youth team Rome Derby against Lazio, Sadiq lashed out an elbow at Simone Mattia in an off the ball incident.

However, just 25 minutes into Friday’s Primavera youth team Rome Derby against Lazio, Sadiq lashed out an elbow at Simone Mattia in an off the ball incident.

“Without reason he elbowed me and then came back to knee me as well. I didn’t expect it, this sort of thing ruins football,” explained Mattia.

Sadiq only made the situation worse after that, as he refused to leave the field, got into an argument with another Lazio player and had to be physically dragged away by two teammates.

It’s no easy task, as the Nigerian teenager is already 1.92m tall (6ft 3in).

The match ended 1-1.
