“This is a fundamental match, as if we draw or lose then it’d be almost impossible to stay in Serie A,” said the Coach in a Press conference.

“I don’t want to see any absurd fouls from my players, but rather to play with calm and confidence. At this stage we have to win by any means necessary, with beautiful football or ugly, because this result is going to be decisive.

“If we don’t beat Palermo, then everything we’ve done thus far will be futile. The lads know how to play. I want the fans to be at one with the team, so I expect them to arrive early and cheer us on through the warm-up too.

“We must transform our anger and disappointment from recent games into sporting determination.

“We mustn’t create any alibis, even if after the Carpi game refereeing incidents have tended to go against us. The important thing now is to leave Palermo behind us, then we have to close on Carpi.”

There is some controversy, as Carpi won’t play their Week 35 match against Empoli until Monday evening.

“I find it absurd that the two games are not played simultaneously,” complained Stellone. “We played at different times last round too. I think at least in the final four rounds the teams competing for a target ought to play simultaneously!”

Frosinone have several problems going into the Matusa, as Arlind Ajeti and Raman Chibsah are suspended, while Federico Dionisi, Paolo Sammarco and Alessandro Frara all need fitness tests.

“Frara scans showed no lesion to the muscle, but he is feeling pain in the right thigh. We’ll go out there with a team that can play either of two systems and a lot depends on Frara’s situation. I don’t want to give Palermo any advantages, so I don’t want to say what system we’ll use.”
