Torino's Stadio Olimpico will officially become the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino as of today.
The club announced their satisfaction as the new title will commemorate the historical team that dominated Serie A in the 1940s, led by the likes of Valentino Mazzola, Pietro Ferraris and Ezio Loik.
The Granata have been playing in the Olimpico as of 2006, after 16 years at the Stadio Delle Alpi.
The name-change takes place after a petition gathered 11,000 signatures in favour of the amendment. The team, however, will likely move to the new Stadio Filadelfia in the near future, which is currently being reconstructed.
