Cristian Brocchi says everyone is 'actually really happy' with his tactics ahead of Verona-Milan.

The game will be played on Monday afternoon, at 16:00 UK time. The newly-appointed Rossonero Coach seems insistent in getting his team to play with a trequartista, a choice which left some skeptical as they wondered whether any of the players were suited to the role.

“The ones opposed to this tactical change are all outside of my locker room, which is something I find surprising,” he said in today's Press conference. “The players should be the ones to tell me they have a problem, but they're actually all really happy.

“They're confident and happy to learn. None of them ever mentioned this as a problem, and here everyone's free to speak their mind. In my idea of football, the trequartista is the link with the midfield. It's like a chessboard, you pick a player to cover that role according to his characteristics. It may seem strange, but this is my way of thinking.”

Milan have been struck by a string of injuries since Brocchi took over, which some blame on the changing training patterns.

“It's statistically likely, yes, it could be. Thankfully none of the injuries are serious. We never exasperated the athletic work, even though we added our own exercises. We do at least half of them, compared to the usual amount I request over a year.

“[Carlos] Bacca? I expect pride to show in this game, from him and from everybody else. I want a team performance, and players that help each other in moments of trouble.

“[Giacomo] Bonaventura has the quality to give us real extra value. He showed this during his time at Milan.

“[Keisuke] Honda and [Jerome] Boateng can play as the trequartista, but it depends on the characteristics of the three people behind them. I'll choose one or the other depending on that question.”

Finally, Brocchi discussed Jeremy Menez, yet another player that the Diavolo are desperate to get back in top form.

“I think that when you have a strong group, then that brings out the best in you. But frankly I'm a little perplexed by the criticism. Menez is active in the group, he laughs, jokes, talks and has a positive attitude. I'm hoping he can do what I asked of him. If he does, then his comrades will benefit from that, because his quality is out of discussion.”
