They were beaten 3-1 on home turf by Sassuolo on the day the stadium was renamed the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

“For 75 minutes we had a good game, wasted several clear-cut chances and then conceded on a corner,” the Coach told Rai Sport and Sky Sport Italia.

“After going behind for the second time, we tried to fight back with heart more than precision. We started this season with such good prospects, so when we didn’t live up to those, there was bound to be disappointment.

“This is the season of regret for me, as we could’ve done so much more. The midweek 3-2 defeat to Roma was representative, as we dominated for 80 minutes and lost it by conceding two goals in 60 seconds.”

Ventura was asked about his future and chose two different approaches to his answer.

“My future depends on what objectives this Torino side will have. If the objective is in the immediate, that’s one thing, but if it’s a long-term plan then that’s different.”

When speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the Coach opted for sarcasm.

“My future is already decided. I’m going to Manchester United and then Italy.”
