Buffon: ‘I’ve won nine Scudetti’

Gianluigi Buffon insists Juventus have 34 Scudetti - “I’ve finished first in Serie A nine times, once in Serie B”.

Officially the Bianconeri have won 32 titles, as two were revoked during the Calciopoli scandal in 2006 when the club was sent down to Serie B.

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio has said the Old Lady “did not steal anything”, and the Turin club launched legal action to have the Scudetti reinstated and the captain is still counting the wins in 2005 and 2006.

“I stayed in Serie B for a just cause,” Buffon told La Stampa.

“Life pays you back, and this time it hasn’t let me down. I’ve finished first in Serie A nine times, and once in Serie B, statements or pieces of paper don’t really change anything.”

The goalkeeper was also asked about the Derby with Torino in October, where Juan Cuadrado scored a last-minute winner.

“If they’d won it would have been all over. We were in the game though, and we won it at the death.”
