“Every game is the most important and a great opportunity, regardless of the fact our opponents desperately need a win,” warned the Coach in his Press conference.

“We must make the most of this situation and return home with the point we need to be mathematically sure of our own safety.

“The team has changed during the campaign, but now we have found a sense of consistency. Antonio Cassano and Ricky Alvarez have been training all week, so they are available, but Niklas Moisander is still out of action.”

David Ivan and Edgar Barreto are also ruled out with long-term absentee Carlos Carbonero.

“We need to play a great game with concentration and intelligence, trying to hit them at the right moments.”

In the last few outings goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has performed heroics, including big penalty saves.

“He did very well last year too. He is a person who probably benefited from the atmosphere at Samp. There are some players who give their best in certain clubs.

“Could he go to Euro 2016? Antonio Conte follows Sampdoria with his collaborators and if it were up to me, I’d pick him.”

Montella was asked if he would like to be in Conte’s position as Italy Coach next season.

“I haven’t had any contact with the FIGC, so if and when there were any, I’d think about it. Being Coach of the Nazionale would be something to be proud of.”
