Eusebio Di Francesco said Sassuolo “welcome difficult tests” after flying into the Europa League places.

The Neroverdi beat Verona 1-0 and leapfrogged Milan into sixth place thanks to the Rossoneri’s 3-3 draw with Frosinone.

However, sixth will only be valid for Europa League entry if Milan fail to win the Coppa Italia against Juventus on May 21.

However, sixth will only be valid for Europa League entry if Milan fail to win the Coppa Italia against Juventus on May 21.

“We played decent football, perhaps less well than in the last few games when we didn’t get these results, but Verona were determined despite having already been relegated,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“I think Verona’s attitude bodes well for Italian football and I admire their approach in difficult circumstances.

“We were maybe less sharp than usual, but as people tend to say, what really mattered today was the victory and we won.”

Sassuolo’s run-in is away to Frosinone and at home against Inter, whereas Milan visit Bologna and welcome Roma.

“These are going to be difficult matches, but we welcome difficult tests, as they mean we are playing at a high level and want to truly earn our place in Europe.”

The Neroverdi have already set a new club record for points in a Serie A season, but above all conceded far fewer goals than last term.

“The defensive movement of the team as a unit has improved, but what frustrates me is we had more chances to score and didn’t convert them.”
