It was the second victory of his tenure, secured 1-0 at the Stadio Dall’Ara thanks to a Carlos Bacca penalty, but Bologna had Amadou Diawara sent off after just 12 minutes.

“Obviously I’d like us to do more, but the important thing this evening was to get the three points and it’s what we got,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We are trying to introduce different ideas and try to reach the Coppa Italia Final against Juventus in the best possible condition, but in the meantime we have a Serie A season to complete.

“When Bologna went down to 10 men, we created too much of a traffic jam down the middle. We struggled because the movement was slow and we couldn’t find spaces.

“After the break we pushed Keisuke Honda and Luiz Adriano wider, which I think was the right move, as it created more balance.”

Brocchi took over from sacked Sinisa Mihajlovic and admits it is a tricky job.

“My work is technical, tactical and also psychological. There are difficulties, it’s not easy, but I am giving it all my effort and enthusiasm.

“I knew beforehand it wasn’t going to be easy, as did more or less everybody. I want to get the best out of every player as quickly as possible. They all have to give more than they have done thus far.

“It’s tough to create an identity in such a short space of time. I have my ideas and I’m working on them. I have to make do with the situation we have.”

It’s reported President Silvio Berlusconi will only keep Brocchi in charge next season if he beats Juventus in the Coppa Italia Final on May 21.

“I don’t have time to think about the future. The lads are listening to me and something is starting to move forward. The aim is to reach the Coppa Italia Final with a stronger situation.”

If Milan lose that Final, they must finish in the top six to qualify for the Europa League.

“It doesn’t depend only on us. It was important to win today, now we’ll see what happens.”

Sassuolo visit Frosinone on Sunday afternoon.
