Gigi De Canio regrets the 'difficult moment' in Atalanta-Udinese 1-1, but hopes to stay with the club: 'We'll discuss that next week'.

The 58-year-old joined the Zebrette in mid-March, and while he successfully saved them from relegation, he hasn't shown a particularly spectacular brand of football either, as seen in today's uninspiring draw.

“When you run into a difficult moment, you begin to question yourself,” De Canio told the Press. “Today, after conceding the goal that levelled the result, we just tried to manage the game in a certain way.

“These things happen when you're challenged, but all that matters is that we reached our objective. We're safe from relegation, and we deserved it.”

Finally De Canio went over his own future with the club, which is currently uncertain.

“I think we'll discuss that next week, after the end of the championship. The contract's renewal wasn't part of the initial agreement, but the club showed me respect and trust.

“From my side, I'm more than willing to work in a serious and well-organised club.

“[Antonio] Di Natale? No player is eternal, you have to discover new ones and propose them.”
