The defender is going to be called up for Antonio Conte’s training camp next week, as confirmed by Zenit releasing a statement.

“I had contact with Inter last summer, but with Zenit we decided to continue together and I am very happy with that choice,” Criscito told TMW Radio.

“I do miss Italian football, but I am happy here. I’m in a big club. Every year there is talk of my return to Italy, but very little of substance happened. In future I would like to come back.

“It’d be a dream to play at Euro 2016, because in Conte’s era I was called up twice. The Nazionale jersey is the ultimate for any player.

“It’s true Italy will be missing some big players like Mattia Perin, Claudio Marchisio and Marco Verratti. Will Inter try for me again? I don’t know, you’d have to ask them. I hope to go to the Euros this summer, then we’ll see.

“Conte has a winning mentality, he works very well both on tactics and group dynamics. He is a great Coach who will do well at Chelsea and before then I’m sure he will do well at the Euros.”

Former Zenit Coach Spalletti is currently doing great things at Roma, who are sure of a top three finish and still challenging Napoli for second.

“He brought his ideas to Roma and you can see how much the team has changed since his arrival. He brought the Giallorossi into the Champions League.

“Once again Juventus proved they are the best and the only side that can win Serie A. Napoli didn’t manage it, despite Gonzalo Higuain scoring over 30 goals.

“I still watch Genoa games and Leonardo Pavoletti really impressed me. More than goals, he does such important work for the team and in that sense reminds me of Luca Toni. He can be very useful for Genoa and the Nazionale.”
