Genoa defender Armando Izzo says the Azzurri call-up 'cost me a lot of sweat' and would be happy as a Euro 2016 sub.

Coach Antonio Conte's training camp is giving him the opportunity to test out several players that are usually not considered for the national team.

After Marco Sportiello's comments and those of Leonardo Pavoletti, Izzo also had the opportunity to speak out in today's Press conference.

“Being here is an emotion without compare, it took me a lot of sweat to make it,” he told the Press. “I'm so happy about having been called up! I hope I can do well, I want a chance to go Euro 2016.

“Conte never gives in on anything, not on a centimetre of the pitch. He transmits his mentality, he's a hard worker.

“Of course I'd be happy to go to France as a sub. I'd accept any decision by the Coach.

“Playing with a three-man backline is an advantage for me, but Conte will decide. In terms of characteristics I see myself in [Fabio] Cannavaro, but the pitch will make that judgment.

“My value on the transfer market? I can't think about my future while I'm with the national team.

“I'd say my odds of making it into the national team are 20 per cent. My idols? Cannavaro and [Alessandro] Nesta.”
