Riccardo Montolivo felt “Milan deserved to win on points, but Juventus were clinical” in the Coppa Italia Final.

The Rossoneri had the better of the first half, but failed to finish off their chances and Alvaro Morata came off the bench for the 1-0 result in extra time.

“It’s disappointing, as if it was a boxing match we’d have won on points,” Montolivo told Rai Sport.

“Unfortunately you need that final moment to finish chances off and we lacked that today, whereas Juve were clinical.

“If we had played this way throughout the season, it would’ve been a very different campaign.

“Now we have to put a line under it and evaluate where to go next. I think the team gave everything it had.”

Milan are out of Europe for the third year running, as Sassuolo go into the Europa League.
