“I have declared my decision to sell Milan. I do believe in any case that the decision of President Berlusconi regarding the team must be a wise and correct decision.

“I think that I should hand over to someone capable of putting funds into the side that can relaunch it. It’s not so much the money that will go to (Berlusconi’s holding company) Fininvest, but the money that is committed to entering Milan immediately or every year.

“Nowadays the money comes either from China or big oil.”

This week it was reported Berlusconi was holding up the sale to Chinese investors by insisting he remain as President for three years.

“All those who sat round the negotiation table said the Berlusconi brand is important, above all in China, where I am very well-known.

"Will Cristian Brocchi stay on as Coach? I don't know yet."
