Roma have announced the permanent signing of defender Antonio Rudiger from Stuttgart for €9m.
Rudiger made 30 Serie A appearances for Roma last season as he helped the Giallorossi to a third-place finish, and the club have confirmed that they have exercised their option to keep him beyond his loan arrangement.
The 23-year-old, who will represent Germany at Euro 2016, has put pen to paper on a contract until 2020, while “specific sporting clauses” could trigger a further €500,000 payment to his former employers
Despite his switch, Rudiger continues to be liked with several Premier League sides, including Chelsea – who will be managed by Italy CT Antonio Conte next season.
