Udinese full-back Pablo Armero insists “what is said about me isn’t true” after his arrest for domestic violence in Miami.
The Colombia international was preparing for the Copa America when arrested for allegedly attacking his wife in a hotel room, as police arrived to find he had drunkenly cut off a chunk of her hair with clippers.
“Thanks to God, to my family and all those who know what type of person I am and that I am a man of God,” wrote the 29-year-old on Instagram.
“What is said about me isn’t true, but this is life and I just have to think positive and look forward. I am a man of faith and a good person, I am not the person that is depicted in the papers.
“Criticism made without knowing things really irritates me. I am very happy to have my family, who support and know me.
“I apologise to everyone.”
This was not Armero’s first brush with the law, as he was arrested in Udine in 2011 for refusing to take a blood alcohol test.
