Much has been made of the Giallorossi captain's discontent last year and the question of whether he would sign a new contract, but the troubled relationship with sporting director Sabatini is perhaps even more pressing.

“We didn't talk about that type of thing, only about matters that have to do with the players,” Pallotta told PagineRomaniste, when asked about Sabatini.

“As for Totti, there shouldn't be any problems. We'll sit down and have a chat and everything should go smoothly.

“Besides, he's going on holiday in Miami, that's the best possible place to meet.

“The sponsors? I have no meetings scheduled on this subject today. We only talked about football.

“There should be no problems for the Stadio della Roma. Both [Rome mayor candidates Roberto] Giacchetti and [Virginia] Raggi told me what they think of the stadium.”
