Liverpool informed Milan loanee Mario Balotelli that he'll be called up on July 2, but he is still for sale.

The player spent the past season with the Rossoneri on a temporary basis, and there is some debate as to whether he will be retained or not.

The matter is further complicated for the 25-year-old  as Milan's operations are stalled by President Silvio Berlusconi's failing health conditions and by the ongoing negotiations for the sale of the club.

In the meantime, Calciomercato.com reports that Liverpool got in touch with Balotelli to let him know that he is expected to show up for the next season's preparations on July 2.

The call-up is presumably only a formality, as the Reds have no interest in keeping the player.
